Projects supported by Global Media Group presented on World Environment Day

On June 5, World Environment Day, Azerbaijan hosted another major event dedicated to this important international observance. On this occasion, a series of open-air events was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center, where various initiatives aimed at protecting the environment, promoting a recycling culture, and strengthening social responsibility were presented to the public.

Among these projects were the “Card to Art” and “Bring Paper, Take a Book” social and environmental initiatives, implemented at the initiative of “Tamiz Shahar” JSC with the support of several public and private partners, including the information support of Global Media Group.

As part of the event, artworks made from expired plastic cards collected in special collection boxes over the past year were presented at the open-air stand set up by the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center. The “Card to Art” social and environmental project demonstrated that waste is not merely material to be discarded, but a resource that can gain new value through creativity and art. The handmade works created by persons with disabilities attracted great interest from visitors and created additional opportunities for their social integration and the presentation of their creative potential.
The “Bring Paper, Take a Book” social and environmental project is mainly aimed at developing recycling habits among schoolchildren. Launched on March 18, Global Recycling Day, at the Baku European Lyceum, the project enabled students to hand over wastepaper collected at home and receive new books in return. The project aims to increase environmental responsibility among the younger generation, encourage their interest in reading, and contribute to the recycling of paper waste.

Both projects combine important values such as environmental responsibility, efficient use of resources, and social solidarity. Through these initiatives, the goal is both to reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment and to engage different groups of society in useful and creative activities.

It should be noted that the “Card to Art” and “Bring Paper, Take a Book” social and environmental projects were implemented with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center, Yapı Kredi Bank Azerbaijan, Global Media Group, Global Management, Facility Management Group, Araz supermarket chain, ECOhub, the Azerbaijan Publishers Association, Bravo Supermarket, Smart Waste LLC, Chapar Poliqrafiya, Gilavar Photo Club, and the Azerbaijan Journalists Network Public Union.
