Premiere of the Short Documentary Film "The Word" Produced by Baku TV

The premiere of the short documentary film “The Word” produced by Baku TV, which is part of Global Media Group, was held on July 9, 2025, at the Nizami Cinema Center. The event was attended by representatives of state and private institutions, as well as members of the public sector.
The film is dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War and portrays the life story of Alakbar, an employee of Baku TV and a participant in the Patriotic War. It should be noted that the film is presented in Russian and English languages in order to convey the realities of Karabakh to the international community.
The documentary “The Word” has also achieved international recognition. The film received an award at the Accolade Global Film Competition in Los Angeles, a competition that receives thousands of submissions annually. . The film also became a finalist at the Roma Prisma Film Awards.
Speaking at the premiere, Ramin Jafarov, Director of Baku TV, noted that the victory of the documentary “The Word” at international competitions represents a significant achievement for Baku TV and reflects the team’s dedication and professionalism:
“The international recognition and success of a film dedicated to the Karabakh theme provide another opportunity to present the realities of Karabakh to the world. What makes this film especially meaningful for us is that the main character of the story, Alakbar, is an employee of Baku TV. In the film, the protagonist shares his emotional journey in his own words – from the period before the war, during the 44-day conflict, and after the Victory. The film “The Word” reflects the collective image of the Azerbaijani people throughout these processes.”
Director of the film Leyli Maharram noted in her remarks that the main objective was to present the realities of Karabakh to the world through the perspective of a direct participant in the events, and that the film’s success at international competitions is a great source of pride for the entire team.
It should be noted that the Accolade Global Film Competition, recognized by IMDb, ranked among the world’s 25 most prestigious film festivals. The festival honors actors, producers, directors, and screenwriters. Among its award recipients are well-known figures such as Ridley Scott, Michael Douglas, Cillian Murphy, and Eric Roberts.
